Is Emma Raducanu playing in the US Open? Former champion set to feature at Flushing Meadows after missing Olympics

Emma Raducanu looks set to make her first Grand Slam appearance since Wimbledon at the US Open next week.
The Brit star famously won the tournament as a qualifier in 2021 but couldn’t defend a year later and was then unable to take part in 2023 due to injury.
Raducanu continues to be plagued by her injuries after surgery on her wrist and ankle, missing the Paris Olympics as she manages her schedule.
That has led to questions about whether she will be playing at Flushing Meadows, however, she looks set to feature…
Raducanu will be taking part in the US Open.
She is set to be part of the main draw which will take place on Thursday, August 22.
The 21-year-old opted against competing at the Olympics to prepare for her Grand Slam appearance in New York.
Since competing at Wimbledon in July, Raducanu has only played three matches leading into this tournament.
She didn’t try to qualify for the Canadian Open or Cincinnati Open which were the two events leading up to this major.
But she did play in the Washington Open and was knocked out in the quarter-finals at the start of August.
They will be her only preparation games before she aims for glory at the US Open.
It’s a build-up that has received some criticism, but former British No.1 Laura Robson has claimed it will benefit Raducanu.
Robson told PA: “She’s not a player who needs a huge amount of matches going into a big event
“I think we’ve seen that before, where she might play the week before, just to get some fine-tuning done.
“But she really enjoys the training block and plays her best tennis when she’s coming off a really strong couple of weeks of practice.
“So, it’s a really good sign that, yes, she’s had a few matches and has some confidence and some wins under her belt.
“But also has the chance to get to New York feeling as fresh as possible, whereas everyone else is probably feeling a bit shattered already.”
Raducanu will play her first-round match at the US Open on either Monday, August 26 or Tuesday, August 27.
