French Open: Andy Murray v Novak Djokovic to resume enthralling semi-final battle on Saturday

Andy Murray will resume his bid to reach a first French Open final on Saturday lunchtime.

The Scot’s semi-final clash with Novak Djokovic was halted on Friday evening after almost three hours of enthralling action.

Djokovic had looked to be coasting into the final as he took the first two sets 6-3 6-3, but Murray fought back to take the third 7-5 and was arguably in the ascendancy before bad light saw play called off with the pair tied at 3-3 in the fourth set.

They will return to Philippe Chatrier at 1200 BST to settle the contest, with Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka awaiting the winner in Sunday's final.

Murray has not beaten Djokovic since the 2013 Wimbledon final, with the Serbian triumphing in all seven of their previous encounters.

He was staring at another defeat to the world number one as Djokovic stormed into a two-set lead inside 90 minutes.

But Murray refused to cave in and the 28-year-old broke his opponent for the first time as he took the third set.

In the fourth, the Scot broke Djokovic to love to lead 3-2 but the top seed immediately broke back, to leave the match in the balance when the umpire called time.
