GB drawn against USA in Davis Cup

Great Britain have been drawn against the United States in the first round of the Davis Cup World Group.

With Wimbledon champion Andy Murray back in the side, Britain sealed a return to the elite 16-nation division after a five-year absence with a 4-1 victory in Croatia earlier this month.

Now the team, captained by Leon Smith, will travel to America for the opening round of the World Group in February, after the draw was made in London on Wednesday.

GB can boast the highest-ranked singles player in Murray, currently the world number three, but the US have the Bryan Brothers - the most successful doubles team of all time - to call upon.

Elsewhere in the draw, defending champions and top seeds Czech Republic were drawn to host the Netherlands.

Serbia, who are seeded second, will take on Switzerland - setting up the prospect of Novak Djokovic meeting Roger Federer.

Third seeds Spain, led by US Open champion Rafael Nadal, travel to Germany, Canada take on Japan and France will host Australia in the top half of the World Group draw.

In the other half Italy face fourth seeds Argentina and Belgium face a tricky trip to Kazakhstan.
