US Open champion Emma Raducanu will return to action in one of tennis' most prestigious events at Indian Wells this week.

The 18-year-old travelled to the USA last month in the hope of putting in a credible display in the US Open qualifiers as she looked to adapt to life at grand slam level.

Instead, Raducanu took to life on the biggest stage of all like a duck to water and defied all expectations by winning the US Open without dropping a single set along the way.

As well as adding her name to a glittering list of tennis' grand slam champions, Raducanu has seen her status skyrocket.

Holding a world ranking of 150 just last month, the Brit has risen a staggering 127 places to number 23 in the world.

As a result Raducanu will see plenty of doors opening for her in the coming weeks and months - returning to training a week on from her US Open win.

And we now know when she will return to the court...

When is Emma Raducanu next in action?

Raducanu will compete at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after being given a main draw wildcard.

The prestigious two-week tournament in California starts on Monday, October 4 and runs until Sunday, October 17.

She is now ranked no. 23 in the world, but qualification was decided before the US Open, hence the wildcard.

Raducanu also received a first round bye which means that her first match will be in the second round against world No 71 Maria Camila Osorio from Colombia or Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the Belarusian world No 100 on Friday, October 8 or Saturday, October 9.

Raducanu was originally scheduled to appear in qualifying for a WTA event in Chicago on September 27 but opted to continue training.

She has also been listed as an entrant to the main draw of the Kremlin Cup, which starts on October 18.

That is the day after Indian Wells finishes and plans could yet change again.

“After the US Open I wanted to give myself this week to completely switch off from tennis because it’s been an extremely intense but rewarding seven weeks,”

Since then Raducanu hinted that her focus is on the higher levels of the WTA Tour after sacking coach Andrew Richardson, claiming

She said: "I feel like at this stage in my career, and playing the top players in the world, I realised I really need someone right now that has had that WTA Tour experience at the high levels, which means that I'm looking for someone who has been at that level and knows what it takes.

"And especially right now because I'm so new to it, I really need someone to guide me who's already been through that.

"It's tough to have that conversation with anyone, but I think for me like that's just really what I need.”
