Fergie has reportedly dispatched scouts to watch young Spaniard Jese Rodriguez Ruiz, who has been at the Real academy since 2007. A star for the reserves, manager Jose Mourinho has included him in recent first team squads, though his contract expires at the end of next season, hence the interest from Sir Alex.
DID YOU KNOW?
1) Rodriguez scored his first Real goal in the club's 7-1 mauling of Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrande in a pre-season friendly in August 2011. Days after making the first team bench for the Champions League win against Ajax in December, Rodriguez made his debut in Real's 2-0 Copa del Rey win against Ponferradina when he came on for Cristiano Ronaldo.
2) He has been likened to Real ace Ronaldo because of his playing style and on the club's official website he lists his favourite player as the former Man United man.
3) Rodriguez played in the Spanish U17 team at the 2010 European Championship where the player scored a goal in the semi final as Spain beat Turkey 3-1 on their way to losing to England in the final.
4) We reported in February thatFulham were closing in on taking the youngster to Craven Cottage on loan for the 2012/13 season, but plans were scuppered by Jose Mourinho.
5) While playing in Real's U19 side in the 2010/11 season he scored 17 goals. Rodriguez's displays were so eye catching that he was called up to play for the club's Castilla (reserve) team, who play in the Spanish third tier. Since joining the club academy at the age of 14, Rodriguez has also played for the U15, U16 and U18 sides. Last season, Real's 13 youth teams scored a combined 364 goals.
