Park Ji-sung and Shinji Kagawa have flown the flag for Japan and South Korea at one of the Premier League's top clubs, but could Manchester United's old rivals Liverpool be about to land England's next great eastern import? Son Heung-min has scored a goal every two games for Hamburg so far this season and with the Reds reportedly tracking his progress, talkSPORT have the latest on the striker.
Name: Son Heung-min

What's the latest?
Son Heung-min is in his third year at Hamburg and the Korean is well on his way to his best ever goals tally in a season, with four strikes in his last five games. That appears to have caught Liverpool's eye, with reports suggesting the Reds are considering a move for the forward to aid misfiring Fabio Borini, as well as take some pressure off Luis Suarez. It's believed that Liverpool are ready to offer €10.5m for his services in January, while the German club are preparing an improved deal for their in-form player, with Son's current Hamburg contract due to expire in 2014.
What's the latest?
1) Born in South Korea, Son left his native country at the age of 16, dropping out of high school to join Hamburg's youth set-up. The deal was a joint operation between Hamburg and the South Korean Football Association, who were keen to send him to Germany to learn his trade.
2) In July 2010 he made his first team debut in a friendly and was soon signed to a two-year professional contract until 2012. Strong performances in his first string of games resulted in Hamburg hastily extending his contract to 2014. His competitive debut with the senior side came in October 2010 against Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup.
3) Son scored on his Bundesliga debut with Hamburg in October 2010, netting against Lukas Podolski's former side Cologne.
4) The forward is known for his dribbling and control, as well as bursts of pace. Though yet to prove himself as a consistently prolific goalscorer - he is still only 20 - Son's four so far this season puts him easily on track to beat his career best of five goals in a campaign comfortably.
5) Son was in brilliant form against Borussia Dortmund earlier this season, scoring a brace to help Hamburg record an upset over the Bundesliga champions with a 3-2 victory.
