Juventus are believed to be leading the chase to sign Fernando Llorente in January, but in order to land the attacker they'll also need to sell off one of their own strikers, and that could play into Chelsea's hands. Roberto Di Matteo is believed to be an admirer of Alessandro Matri and, with the Italian currently out of favour at Juve, a switch to Chelsea in winter could be a real possibility. While Chelsea are thought to value him at €8m (around £6.4m), it's believed that Juventus are holding out for a figure closer to €13m (£10.4m).

1) Matri began his career in 1995 at AC Fanfulla, one of the oldest teams in Italy, before moving to AC Milan's youth ranks a year later. He spent eight years as part of the Milan academy and, though he would go on to make his first team debut against Piacenza in 2003, it would prove to be his only competitive appearance for the senior side.

2) Milan loaned the striker out to three different sides in Italy's lower leagues before selling half of his rights to Cagliari in 2007. After making the switch to Sardinia, he would go on to score seven goals for the Serie A outfit that season, resulting in Cagliari buying the remaining 50% of his rights in the summer.

3) Matri's 36 goals during his four years at Cagliari place him fifth in the team's all-time top scorers in Serie A. His good form resulted in him moving on to bigger and better things with Juventus in January 2011.

4) The striker initially moved to Juve on loan and after notching up a respectable nine goals in 16 appearances during the second half of the 2010/11 season, the Old Lady opted to make his deal permanent in the summer. Matri scored 10 Serie A goals in Juve's title winning 2011/12 campaign.

5) Matri's good form at Juve led to a call-up to the Italy squad for the first time in 2011 for a friendly against Germany, and he would go on to score his first goal for the national team in a 2-0 win over Ukraine two months later.
