What's the latest news?
Schurrle has long been known as a Chelsea target, and Bayer Leverkusen even turned down a bid of more than £20m for the forward last summer, but it appears they are prepared to sell this time around. As revealed in talkSPORT, representatives from the Bundesliga club are in London to conclude talks with the Blues over a transfer and it is believed that Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who is currently on loan at Werder Bremen, could become part of the deal.

Did you know?

1) Schurrle has been compared to Wayne Rooney due to his high work rate, tendency to pick the ball up in deep positions behind the striker and ability to shoot from range. This season in a wide attacking role, he has scored 11 times in 31 appearances in all competitions, while the 22-year-old been lauded for his dribbling and creativity, which has seen him create five goals.

2) Germany coach Joachim Low gave Schurrle his first international cap at the tender age of 19 when he played in his country's 0-0 draw with Sweden in November 2010 after his standout performances for Mainz where he began his career.

3) He was so highly-rated at Mainz that Bayer Leverkusen paid £6.4m for him in 2011. This came off the back of 15 goals in 34 league games for the club, notching up the record goals tally in one season by any Mainz player.

4) Schurrle was part of Germany's Euro 2012 squad, and made appearances against both Greece and Denmark.

They say
“I was in London and we have held talks. There is nothing more to say. Nothing has been decided yet.”
