Trend Micro Stats desk – Player of the Week

Manchester United new boy Robin Van Persie is this week's Trend Micro Stats desk Player of the Week after his match-winning display against Southampton.
The £24m striker might have fluffed his lines from the penalty spot, but he made up for that with the three goals that clinched three points for Sir Alex Ferguson's side on his 1,000th league match in charge.
Van Persie had 11 shots against Southampton, the most by a player since he himself hit 12 against Wolves last Christmas, as he reached the milestone of 100 Premier League goals.
Remarkably, at the start of last year he had only 48 Premier League goals... fewer than Paulo Wanchope! How times have changed.
