United to harness Hernandez pace

Sir Alex Ferguson says he believes Javier Hernandez (40/1 ) will be a real goal threat when the Premier League kicks off in just over a fortnight.
The Mexican, who impressed during this summer’s World Cup, scored his first goal for the Reds in Wednesday night’s 5-2 win over the MLS All-Stars.
The Manchester United manager highlighted Hernandez’s pace and ability to spin in behind defenders as a key attribute and suggested that he would have to work on a formula to play him with Wayne Rooney (11/2 ).
“If we are talking about a combination with Wayne, I think we would need to adjust a bit. They are similar types of players,” said the United boss.
“We will assess Hernandez really well and make sure we can bring him to good consistent form.”
Ferguson said neither Hernandez or Federico Macheda, who scored twice against the MLS All Stars in Houston, will be allowed to leave on loan this season, but insisted he wanted them to fight for regular football at Old Trafford.
The young United (4/6 ) starlets are set to push for a first team place after being linked with temporary moves to Palermo and Valencia respectively.
“I need to keep Macheda and Hernandez,” Ferguson stated. “To play for a club like this is not just about talent. You need something else and they’ve got something else. I am pleased with that.”
