Alan Shearer has admitted that Timo Werner's form for Chelsea is now a 'worry' for Frank Lampard.

The Germany international failed to find the net for the tenth game in a row as the Blues suffered a dismal 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Having been used out on the left by Lampard, Werner failed to make any sort of impact and was hooked off by the Blues boss at half-time at the Emirates.

And Shearer believes the lack of creativity in Chelsea's ranks was clear for all to see.

"They lacked creativity," Shearer said on Match of the Day.

"It wasn’t until the 85th minute where they had an effort on target.  A lack of intensity and drive and quality in the final third.

"When you look at some of the players on show in the attacking third, then this could be a worry for Frank.

"[Timo] Werner, who was dragged at half time, didn’t offer anything in that first half, got into one or two decent positions.

"Arsenal had men behind the ball and they made it very difficult for them, Arsenal. Arsenal were solid and offered Chelsea nothing."

Lampard blasted his team’s slow start in the London derby.

";‘In the second half we showed some urgency but it was too late. The first half we gave ourselves too much to do, we were very poor," he said.

"You can’t lack energy and desire in the Premier League and we did. You can prepare as well as you want but if you turn up like that that’s another thing. It’s in the mind.

"If you perform below par things go against you like the Saka goal. That’s life. On another day we could have scored the penalty and come back but it’s not a day for us.

"The teams that win, win, win relentlessly weren’t winning two or three years ago. We are not there yet, that’s clear. I felt it when we are on our long unbeaten run and I feel it now. We got a lot wrong today."
