First photos of Pardew training Newcastle – Joey Barton immediately tries to check the gaffer’s contract!

It's been the story of the week, Chris Hughton may have lost his job thanks to Mr. Roly-Poly Mike Ashley, but the 'silver-fox' Alan Pardew has stepped in and only gone and got himself a five and a half year contract.

These pictures are from his first training session with the Magpies and it looks like smiles all round for the former Charlton and West Ham manager.

All eyes will be on Newcastle as they take on Liverpool this weekend. You can still get odds of 7/2 that Newcastle will be relegated this season.

After having eight mangers in five years, we wonder how long it will be until it's those odds for Pardew out of a job?
