Shawn Michaels is famous for many things within the wrestling business and his life has been an open book for many.

From becoming Mr. WrestleMania and the Show Stopper in the ring to the battles with alcohol and beyond outside of it, fans think they know the Heartbreak Kid pretty well; but did you know he supports Blackburn Rovers?

Ahead of West Ham’s April 30th 1995 game with Blackburn Rovers, Sky Sports managed to interview Michaels who had arrived at the stadium to check out the action.

“I’m here to support the Blackburn Rovers as a matter of fact,’ Michaels revealed.

Blackburn sit fourth in the Championship today, but following Michaels’ visit in the 1990s, they went on to win the Premier League.

“I have a distant relative that’s from Blackburn, so my mother tells me. Today is my first time, but I’m looking forward to it," Michaels added in his gruff American accent.

When pressed on what Michaels was hoping to see at the game, the WWE Hall of Famer surprisingly had some knowledge of the club’s talisman, Alan Shearer.

“I’m hoping Mr Shearer scores 35 goals this year,’ said Michaels.

Shearer actually ended up scoring 34 goals that season which, along with the 34 Andy Cole scored for Newcastle the season prior, remains a single season record for goals in the Premier League. But, Shearer did not score on the day of Michaels’ visit as West Ham grabbed a 2-0 win.

“Do whatever you have to do to win, that’s what I do,” was Michael’s final piece of advice before the game, before presumably agreeing with former owner Jack Walker's insistence that he didn't need Zinedine Zidane in midfield because he had Tim Sherwood.

Ironically, Michaels is most closely associated with Triple H during his professional wrestling run as the pair helped create D-Generation X.

A few years ago, Triple H admitted to being a fan of the Hammers. We’re sure it has nothing to do with them being Blackburn’s opponents on that fateful day in 1995.

Triple H explained his affinity for the now high-flyng Hammers: ”West Ham is probably the closest to what we do, with the passion of their fanbase and their loyalty, right? That’s the closest to what we do.”

Both Triple H and Shawn Michaels remain close to this day and are actively involved in the British wrestling scene as they preside over NXT, a brand that has a UK and US arm. Michaels is more closely involved with the UK end of things.
