Raw results 3/10 – Banks makes statement with Raw main event title win

History was made on last night’s Monday Night Raw from Los Angeles as Sasha Banks became a two-time Women’s Champion by defeating Charlotte in the show’s main event.

In a moment echoing the famous Raw main event between Trish Stratus and Lita, a generation on saw two of this era’s premier women athletes go toe-to-toe as Monday Night Raw’s headline act. And what headline act it was, as Charlotte and Banks put on another thriller of an encounter, in what was essentially the rubber match between the pair we’d be waiting for. Without Dana Brooke by her side - she was taken out by Bayley just before the bout - the champion once again showed why she calls herself ‘genetically superior’, while Banks lived-up to her billing as the ‘Boss’ of the division. Charlotte’s textbook corkscrew moonsault onto the outside was matched with Sasha’s double-knee blow from the top rope, but in the end it was Banks’ reversal into the Bank Statement that saw Charlotte tap and see Sasha Banks get her hands on the gold for the second time. 

Away from the killer main event, the majority of Monday Night Raw belonged to Chris Jericho and his best friend WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. The pair cut a brilliant in-ring promo, where Y2J convinced his pal to challenge The New Day for their Tag Team Title - albeit with a subtle tease at a possible Jericho shot at Owens title in the future. That challenge brought out the Tag champs and as each of them mocked the Canadians in the ring, they were added to ‘The List’ that Jericho was now made part of his act. Then after a brief verbal spar with Raw Guests Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson, Jericho and Owens took on The New in tag team action, only for interference from Seth Rollins to cost them the bout - and a shot at the tag team gold.
