Raw results 10/10 – Paul Heyman lays down challenge to former World Champion

Real life is set to emulate the video game world after Paul Heyman last night laid down the gauntlet to challenge Goldberg.

The former World Heavyweight Champion, who has been the lead face of WWE 2K17’s early game promotion, had over the weekend admitted he’d like to step back in the ring and face Brock Lesnar one more time. This prompted an appearance on Raw from Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman, who on behalf of his client challenged Goldberg to a fight anywhere, anytime. Calling him the one blot on The Beast’s WWE career that Lesnar wants to avenge. Goldberg is now set to appear on Raw next week to answer the challenge for a possible rematch twelve years in the making.

Raw kicked things off in California with another challenge, as new Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks upped the ante for her title rematch with Chartlotte by asking the challenger to make history and compete inside the Hell in the Cell structure. Charlotte duly accepted, but not before being interrupted by Rusev and Lana who criticized the ‘women’s revolution’ and then Roman Reigns. This led to a mixed tag match later in the night, which saw Reigns and Banks defeat the team of Rusev and Charlotte.

The first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match was confirmed by a dapper looking Mick Foley during the show, one of three matches that will take place inside WWE’s most dangerous structure. Along with the US Title match between Roman Reigns and Rusev, it was announced Kevin Owens will defend his Universal Title against Seth Rollins inside the ‘devil's playground’. This brought out the champ and best friend Chris Jericho and the disgruntled pair put Foley on the 'List of Jericho' once again thanks to his decision. However, Stephanie McMahon then gave Y2J a way into Hell in a Cell’s main event if he could defeat Seth Rollins in Raw’s main event. That however, wasn’t meant to be as Rollins got the better of Jericho in an entertaining close to Raw, that also saw Y2J taste another pedigree while he’s best pal Owens just looked on.

Elsewhere Gallows and Anderson continued their path of destruction by taking out Enzo and Cass, Braun Strowman demanded better competition after disposing of two more jobbers and tensions between New Day and Cesaro and Sheamus came to the boil during a singles victory for Kofi Kingston over the Swiss Superman.
