WWE news round-up; New cruiserweight show, Undertaker return and Survivor Series line-ups

WWE is launching a new Cruiserweight show

Following the success of WWE Network’s Cruiserweight Classic, WWE is launching a brand new in-ring programme later this month that will once again showcase the company’s cruiserweight division.

‘205 Live’ will launch on Tuesday 29 November exclusively on the WWE Network as a new stand alone show to feature all of WWE’s Superstars that are under 205 Ibs. Including current Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick, as well as stars including TJ Perkins, Rich Swann, Noam Dar, HoHo Lun, Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, Gran Metallik, Tozawa, Jack Gallagher, Gurv Sihra and Harv Sihra.

“205 Live is a natural progression to showcase the depth of our roster,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative.  “With world-class talent such as Brian Kendrick, TJ Perkins, and Rich Swann, 205 Live will be a must-see program on WWE Network.”

Mauro Ranello, who was the lead anchor for the Cruiserweight Classic, and Corey Graves will front the show –which airs immediately after SmackDown and before Talking Smack - and WWE will be hoping the dedicated hour will aid the work that the cruiserweight’s are doing as part of Monday Night Raw.

It looks as though we’re set to see the return of the Phemon later this month after the official website of the Mohegan Sun Arena advertised The Undertaker to appear at their November 15 SmackDown Live event.

This will be the final WWE show before Survivor Series - an event in which The Undertaker made his WWE debut in 1990 - and is also the 900th episode of SmackDown. Although this is yet to be confirmed by of any of WWE’s social channels, it’s possible The Undertaker is appearing in a one-night only role to celebrate the landmark episode of the blue brand.

The Undertaker hasn’t been seen on WWE television since WrestleMania 32 and recently went under hip surgery, so it’s unclear in what condition the Deadman will be in. However, he did appear at a recent Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game and was said to be looking well and walking with no apparent issues.

Speaking of Survivor Series, this week’s WWE television gave us a clearer idea of the brand teams who will face off in three separate traditional tag-team elimination matches. As of now the current line-ups are as follows;

Men’s 5-on-5 Elimination Match

Team Raw

Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman plus another TBC

V

Team SmackDown Live

AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Baron Corbin

3

Women’s 5-on-5 Elimination match

Team Raw

Charlotte, Bayley, Nia Jax, plus two other competitors TBC

V

Team SmackDown Live

Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Naomi

3

Tag Team 10-on-10 Elimination match

Team Raw

The New Day plus four teams TBC

V

Team SmackDown

Heath Slater & Rhyno, Hype Bros, The Usos, American Alpha plus one team TBC

3

The final member of Raw’s men’s team is set to be Sami Zayn after wwe.com accidently released an image of the Canadian as part of the line-up alongside the already announced four competitors. This may now change thanks to the reveal, however given his current angle with Braun Strowman it would be logical to add Zayn to the final five.
