WWE Clash At The Castle could be redemption for Drew McIntyre - after the inaugural event ended in karaoke with Tyson Fury.

The Scottish Warrior is expected to be the company's main draw for their first-ever premium WWE event in Glasgow this summer.

McIntyre also main-evented the original Clash at the Castle in 2022 against then-Undisputed Universal champion Roman Reigns in Wales.

The Rangers superfan was unsuccessful in Cardiff but many fans then became fixated on what happened next rather than the match itself.

In the closing images of the WWE's first UK stadium show in three decades, McIntyre engaged in an impromptu singalong with WBC champion Fury after Reigns had left the ring.

The duo - who had traded insults and called each other out for years prior - bizarrely embraced before singing American Pie together.

The unusually cheery ending caught fans off guard considering McIntyre had just lost a huge match in front of a UK crowd.

When asked whether the duet was meant to be screened on live TV, McIntyre told talkSPORT: "Not the way it went down.

"Certainly not how I imagined the biggest disappointment of my life immediately afterwards singing karaoke with Fury but at the same time the people were just gutted.

"Then he was trying to sing that song and I could either just join in everybody being upset, send everybody home even more miserable - or fire them up and try and cause a riot...

"Or I could just do my best to make them happy so I chose to try and put a smile on people's faces even though it was killing me inside."

McIntyre, who is WWE's first British world champion, has never been able to bring the belt back to the UK in the three times he's held it.

His first two reigns came behind closed doors in 2020, with him capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by beating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL earlier this month.

That triumph lasted a mere five minutes before Damian Priest successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win gold.

McIntyre added to talkSPORT: "It's still a little way out, but I want to get my hands on the title - what better place than in Glasgow."

Backlash: France airs Saturday 4 May on WWE Network and TNT Sports Box Office.
