Raw results 23/1 – Big stars get set for the big Rumble

The Royal Rumble will host some of the biggest names it's ever seen

It’s being billed as the ‘biggest’ Royal Rumble of all time and the matches’ biggest stars were all on show on Monday Night Raw, to make their intentions known ahead of Sunday’s massive pay-per-view.

They don’t come much bigger as well, then the three men standing in the ring as Raw went off air. Goldberg had been given the main event slot to talk up his chances of victory on Sunday, which led to Paul Heyman coming out and questioning his claims - given the caliber of talent in this year’s Royal Rumble. Including that of his client Brock Lesnar, who made a surprise appearance to confront his rival. Then, as the two Superstars were about to go toe-to-toe the familiar gongs of the Deadman filled the arena and The Undertaker joined Lesnar and Goldberg in the centre of the ring in a three-way, star-studded stare down to end the show.

Talking of big, another name who entered himself into the Rumble is the world’s largest athlete, the Big Show - and he made sure his presence was felt on Raw. After Braun Strowman had teamed with Rusev, Jinder Mahal and Titus O’Neil to defeat The New Day and Enzo and Cass, Show marched down to the ring and confronted the ‘Monster Among Men’ signally a face-off we could well see on Sunday.

One man who is seemingly out of Sunday’s Royal Rumble match is Seth Rollins, after once again falling fail to Triple H. Rollins was put in a match with Sami Zayn by Stephanie McMahon with a spot in the Rumble on the line. Then, just as The Architect looked to be getting the better of Zayn, The Game’s music hit the arena just long enough to distract Rollins and allow Zayn to roll him up for the win. Leaving Sami to steal his spot in this Sunday’s showcase bout.

Away from the Rumble match itself, Roman Reigns kicked-off Monday Night Raw with a promo promising to repay Kevin Owens for the powerbomb through the announce table last week, by taking his WWE Universal Title. An exchange between the pair along with Chris Jericho then saw yet another bout between Reigns and Y2J later in the night, that was thrown out as Owens interferred. It was Reigns who got the last laugh however, locking Owens in the same shark cage that will be Jericho's home for the Universal Championship match this weekend - a match which will now be contested under no disqualfication rules.

Elsewhere Bayley and Charlotte Flair gave sat down interviews with Corey Graves ahead of their championship battle on Sunday, Luke Gallows got one over Cesaro and Nia Jax felt the wrath of a Sasha Banks when the boss attacked Jax with her crutches.
