Celtic send brutal four-word message trolling Rangers and WWE’s Drew McIntyre after crushing Clash at the Castle loss

Rangers fan Drew McIntyre’s world title dreams were left in tatters at WWE Clash at the Castle, and arch-rivals Celtic have happily stuck the boot in.

McIntyre was ultimately unsuccessful in his challenge of Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship in his native Scotland.

At the end of a chaotic main event, it was The Judgement Day's Priest who stood tall having defended his gold - albeit with a little help from CM Punk.

It had all looked to have been going the Scot's way. Priest looked to have sustained a legitimate knee injury early in the encounter, while Claymore's aplenty came crashing down to stack the deck in McIntyre's favour.

A heavily partisan crowned sensed something fishy was afoot, though, when the match referee took a wild bump, crashing into the ringside barricade.

That's pro wrestling 101 for something underhand being on the horizon, and CM Punk didn't disappoint; sliding into the ring and reaching a count of two after McIntyre had Priest slain, only to pull up before counting three and taunting his arch rival instead.

A tussle between McIntyre and Punk then followed but, by that point, fans knew the writing was on the wall for the hometown hero - a low blow followed by a finisher from Priest who took advantage to score the match-winning pinfall.

It was classic WWE soap opera, but the 11,000 strong in Glasgow were less than amused by the decision to again have McIntyre fall on his face in a high-profile title challenge in the UK, with the same having happened at Clash in Cardiff in 2022.

The Scottish Warrior played into the drama of it all perfectly, too, getting in the face of referees, ringside agents and commentators as he stormed to the locker room with an expletive-ridden tirade.

Storyline stuff or not, Scottish Premiership champions Celtic wasted no time poking fun at the fallen McIntyre, a devoted Rangers fan who is no stranger to talking smack about his team's rivals.

They cruelly returned the favour on Saturday night, reacting to a post from WWE's official X account that showed Punk readying himself for the stunt backstage by grabbing a referee's shirt.

In quoting it, they simply fired the four words: "CM Punk, Thank You."

Far from happy to leave it there, they then re-posted a shot of Punk, who'd cleverly opted to attend the post Clash at the Castle press conference in a Celtic jersey just to stir the pot, which the club's Twitter account posted, with the caption: "Looking good."

The drama at the OVO Hydro came just days after McIntyre had stood proudly on the pitch at Ibrox to accept a special award.

For his incredible contribution to the wrestling scene in his home nation, he was inducted into The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for Scotland.

The notable accolade was bestowed on the grappler by the Lord Provost of Glasgow City Council, Jacqueline McLaren, with McIntyre credited as a pioneer of Scottish Wrestling, and hailed as a star that has revived the sport.

The Hall of Fame ceremony celebrates legendary wrestlers from WWE, with the likes of George Kidd, Frank Cullen and Drew McDonald being inducted in the past.

An eventful Clash at the Castle also saw an emotional championship win for Scottish tag team Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, who captured the Women's Tag Team titles just week's after the tragic sudden death of Fyre's mother.

Elsewhere, Bayley retained her WWE Women's title with a victory over anther Scot in Piper Niven, while Cody Rhodes retained his title with a punishing victory over AJ Styles in an I Quit contest.
