SummerSlam is set to be headlined by WWE champion Cody Rhodes as he looks to defend his title against the de facto Tribal Chief and leader of The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa.

The latest premium live event has all the hallmarks of being an all-time epic, with other household names such as CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Logan Paul also starring on the card.

With so much to get excited about, here are all the details you need to know heading into WWE SummerSlam 2024.

Will Roman Reigns return at WWE SummerSlam 2024?

6

It’s been widely speculated that the original Tribal Chief, A.K.A. Roman Reigns, will make his grand return at SummerSlam.

Reigns hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 40, after his era-defining, 1,316-day title run came to an end at the hands of Cody Rhodes.

Fans have been teased for months with workout videos on social media and countless references on RAW and SmackDown, only building anticipation around Reigns’ return.

It’s now expected that the Head of the Table will officially make his comeback at SummerSlam, somehow inserting himself into the Rhodes vs Sikoa title match, whether that be via interference or simply staring down the victor after the final bell.

WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, is building towards next year’s WrestleMania, slowly moving the pieces into place for a stacked card that will likely feature both Reigns and The Rock.

WWE SummerSlam 2024 predictions

6

Cody Rhodes vs Solo Sikoa

The result of this match will ultimately dictate where WWE sees its storyline going into Survivor Series, the Royal Rumble, and then onto WrestleMania.

Our prediction is for Rhodes to retain his title, with Sikoa coming face-to-face with Reigns, setting up an original Bloodline – with Reigns, the Usos, and Sammy Zayn – squaring off against The Bloodline 2.0 in War Games at Survivor Series.

Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley

Morgan’s revenge tour is in full swing. Having won the Women’s World title after injuring then-champion Ripley, the pair will now face off to see who the true top dog is.

The Dominik Mysterio love triangle saga has provided a nice storyline to run alongside this, and while some fans expect Mysterio to swing the match in either direction, we feel Finn Balor will emerge to aid Morgan’s title defence in a twist that’s been vaguely hinted at on RAW shows.

CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre

Arguably the pick of the matches for fans, who’ve thoroughly enjoyed the build to this one. Some great promos, fiery exchanges, and McIntyre being continually screwed.

With Seth Rollins installed as the special guest referee, this could genuinely go either way. Shades of SummerSlam ‘97 come to mind here, with Punk, now medically cleared, fulfilling the role of Bret Hart and winning the match after a reluctant three-count from Rollins.

Damian Priest vs Gunther

Priest hasn’t been the most convincing champion since cashing in his Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 40, but nonetheless his gradual transition from heel to babyface has gone down well with the WWE universe.

Gunther is an absolute machine, though, and it feels inevitable that the Ring General will claim gold by becoming World champion for the first time in his career, carrying the belt into Bash in Berlin.

Bayley vs Nia Jax

Bayley’s title reign has cooled somewhat after the huge pop when she initially won her championship at WrestleMania 40.

A big win here could get her back on track and over with the crowd again, which is exactly what we’re predicting – with a cash-in scare from Tiffany Stratton thrown in en route to victory.

Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker

In a rematch from Money in the Bank, Breakker gets his second shot at Intercontinental glory, with the two-time NXT Champion having looked immense in recent months.

It’ll be second time lucky here for us, with Breakker getting his hands on the title and therefore allowing Zayn to feed into the aforementioned OG Bloodline reunion storyline later down the road.

Logan Paul vs LA Knight

While there’s no doubting Paul’s global reach and in-ring ability, it’s fair to say SmackDown has missed the United States championship being regularly present on Friday nights.

It feels like Knight should have won this title a year ago when his stock was at an all-time high, so we’re predicting he finally gets his moment in the spotlight at SummerSlam by pinning The Maverick.
