The Undertaker's stunning cameo at the end of WrestleMania XL is still leaving people in awe, not least Logan Paul.

In arguably the biggest moment of the biggest WWE show of the year, the Deadman made a dramatic return in front of a packed house in Philadelphia to confront Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

With Rock and The Bloodline overpowering and outnumbering Cody Rhodes and having already seen off John Cena and Seth Rollins, Taker emerged to a thunderous reaction to help even the odds.

He raised Rock high in the air before planting him with a trademark chokeslam, clearing the way for Rhodes to pin rival Roman Reigns and win the Undisputed WWE Championship and end a run that stretched back over three and a half years.

Such a critical moment in a long-running storyline might usually command many weeks or months in planning but, according to the veteran, the drama was put into action moments before it happened.

Appearing on Paul's Impaulsive , Undertaker left the host and former WWE US Champion stunned by explaining he was given the green light to appear while the show was on the air.

The Texan was busy watching the rest of WrestleMania with guests in a hospitality suite before making a sudden and mysterious exit.

He explained: “They called me earlier in the week and mentioned that they might want to do something.

“Paul [Levesque - WWE Head of Creative] called me on the Tuesday and dropped the seed and I’m like: ‘alright, man. Let me know. I’m going to be there.’

“I’m up in the suite, chilling with my family and friends, which I’ve never been able to do all these years.

“I’m sitting there and feel my phone buzzing in my back pocket and told my wife: ‘I’ll be back in a minute.’

“She knew, but nobody else in the suite had a clue – I kayfabed everybody!”

Kayfabe is the insider term for maintaining the illusion that viewers see on screen is 'real' in order to keep fans entertained and in the dark about any surprises that might follow.

Going on to detail that he arrived at his cue point just seconds before the lights went out and his iconic gong hit to send the crowd into delirium.

“While all these people were coming in, they brought me in from the far end of the stadium," he added, with Paul clearly unable to believe how the madness came together.

He had his hands on his head as Undertaker continued: “Then, behind hard camera, they had a little place set there, so I stayed there and, when Seth went, I edged up a little bit closer.

“When it was my turn, they went black, I said: ‘ah, man. Knees, don’t fail me now, brother!’

“It was fun. I go back up and everybody in the suite is like: ‘what the hell are you doing?!’

“I copped a lot of s*** for that, but it was like: ‘It wouldn’t have been as fun if I’d told you!’”

After a glittering 30-year career as arguably professional wrestling's greatest ever character, Undertaker retired from active competition in 2020.

He's continued to make occasional cameos over the four years that have followed, but confirmed on the podcast that, having surrendered the last of his trademark black hats and coats, he'll never appear again as the 'Deadman' version of The Undertaker.
