Jack Swagger no longer with WWE?

Have we seen the last of Jack Swagger in WWE?

WWE SmackDown Live Superstar and former World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger revealed yesterday that he has requested his release from WWE.

On a call-in to Chael Sonnen’s Beyond The Fight podcast, Swagger announced that he and WWE had been negotiating on a new deal, but have since reached an impasse and so he has requested his release. Stating ‘They were way off, and they didn’t value me at what I thought I was valued at’.

Swagger has been a member of the WWE roster since 2008, where he debuted on the ECW brand. After winning the ECW Championship he went on to become World Heavyweight Champion in 2010 and also had runs with the US Title in 2011 and formed a successful tag-team with Cesaro a year later that spawned he’s popular 'We the People’ catchphrase.

He was the first Superstar to switch brands following the 2016 WWE draft, but hasn’t been see on SmackDown Live since losing to Baron Corbin in October. His decision to ask for his release he admitted was down to not receiving opportunities from WWE and is now looking forward to working in Mexico, Japan and the UK.

He added that the release is an ‘ongoing process’ and WWE is yet to comment on the situation. You can listen to the full audio from the podcast on the video below.
