Daniel Bryan admits he ‘failed’ at Royal Rumble as he takes swipe at winner Roman Reigns

Daniel Bryan has admitted he “failed†at the Royal Rumble - but took a swipe at winner Roman Reigns as he indicated he ‘didn’t have The Rock helping me out’.
Crowd favourite Bryan, 33, also said Reigns would go on to have a compelling contest against WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania, but warned the former Shield star would have to ‘make sacrifices’ like he had.
Speaking to Renee Young on last night’s Raw, Bryan - who recently returned to action after nearly eight months recovering from neck surgery - reflected that fans were “definitely disappointed†by Sunday’s Rumble match, dragged down by boo boys upset at his early elimination.
“They were disappointed that Roman Reigns won,†he continued.
“I was disappointed Roman Reigns won - but not because it was Roman Reigns, because it wasn't me.
“This entire time I've been injured, I've been aiming for the Royal Rumble and I'd been thinking†'Brock Lesnar - what a perfect opponent, right?'
“I never lost that title, I never lost it.
“And he's the ultimate Goliath and I'm the ultimate David, and this is a perfect story put on a silver platter and I thought: 'Man, this is my perfect opportunity.'
“But quite honestly, I failed. Right, that's on me.â€
Bryan, who earlier tweeted his thanks to fans for their support saying it made him ‘the luckiest man alive’, added: “Roman Reigns saw an opportunity and he took it. I had the opportunity, I didn't take it.
“Now granted, I didn't have The Rock helping me out. Granted, WWE didn't ever ‘feed me as a kid’. But Roman Reigns took advantage of the whole situation.
“And if he can make the same sacrifices that I've made, make the same sacrifices that guys like Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose have made, I have no doubt he can put on a great match at Wrestlemania, in the main event against Brock Lesnar and just put on a show.â€
Former champ Bryan also insisted his ire would be directed towards Kane, his casket match opponent on Thursday’s SmackDown.
“I'm not going to be denied,†he said. “Quite frankly, after last night, I've got a smile on my face but I'm mad as hell. I'm p***** off.
“I'm going to do anything that my body and heart will allow.â€
