SmackDown Live results 11/7 – Blue brand’s top two stars join forces to defeat common enemies

Their rivalry over the past year may have produced some of the best matches in recent memory, but last night John Cena and AJ Styles formed a dream team to take down their Battleground rivals.

Styles opened the show, celebrating his WWE Live US Title win over Kevin Owens, as he reinstated the US Open Challenge. His first challenger? John Cena. However, just as it looked as though we were about to get another chapter in these two’s epic rivalry, Owens interrupted the match to demand Cena stepped aside as he wants his rematch for the title. Cena welcomed KO into the ring, but was then blindsided himself by Rusev and he and Owens then beat-down on Styles and Cena, resulting in a tag team main event.

That main event saw Cena and Styles team-up for the first time to defeat Owens and Rusev, thanks to a combination of a Pele Kick and an Attitude Adjustment on former champ KO and give the Blue Brand’s biggest two stars the win.

Also victorious on SmackDown was WWE Champion Jinder Mahal who got the better of Tye Dillinger, there was also wins for Xavier Woods over Jey Uso and the combination of Natalya and Tamina, who defeated Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair thanks to an assist from Lana. All five of those ladies will now contest a Five-way Elimination Match at Battleground to determine who get's a title shot at this year's SummerSlam.

Elsewhere Baron Corbin and Shinsuka Nakamura’s scheduled bout never got going after the pair brawled before the match and had to be separated by officials, and Sami Zayn felt the wrath of the power of love at the hands of Mike Kanellis.
