NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III results – Adam Cole debuts to ambush new champ

Drew McIntyre last night ended the glorious NXT reign of Bobby Roode, only for his title celebrations to be ruined by the debut of independent sensation Adam Cole.
After a gruelling championship win, the undefeated Scot was ambushed by Cole, along with former Ring of Honour pals and recent NXT recruits Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. Laying out McIntyre and leaving the Barclays Center in a state of shock as they posed at the top of the NXT ramp to close the show.
The trio’s arrival was the story of the night, and actually began in the aftermath of the Tag Team Title Match. SAnitY had just dethroned The Authors of Pain in another excellent NXT Tag Team Championship outing, when they were the first victims of an attack from Fish and O’Reilly, in a sign of what was to become for the rest of the evening.
Away from the shocking headline act, NXT Women’s Champion Asuka once again prevailed in her title match with Ember Moon. The two women put on a showing on a par with Bayley and Sasha Banks’ Brooklyn classic from 2015, and Moon went within a whisker of ending the champs undefeated reign only to eventually tap out to the Asuka lock.
