WWE Superstar Trent Seven ‘buzzing’ for historic Royal Albert Hall events

UK wrestling reaches another milestone this week as London’s Royal Albert Hall hosts TWO nights of WWE action.
The stars of the WWE UK Championship and NXT will descend on the capital’s famous landmark venue for a special one-night tournament on Monday and then an evening with the very best NXT has to offer on Tuesday.
The shows are just the latest step in establishing the UK scene to WWE’s worldwide audience, and for Trent Seven, someone who’s been at the forefront of WWE’s exposure of wrestling in this country, competing at The Royal Albert Hall is latest highlight in what’s been a whirlwind eighteen months for him and his fellow UK stars.
He spoke exclusively to before the action-packed events in London...
Trent, how much are you looking forward to the Royal Albert Hall shows?
I’m absolutely buzzing, what an opportunity this is. I was only talking with the all the guys the other day about what an incredible year this has been, and we’ve all had our own personal favourite moments, but to perform at The Royal Albert Hall, I mean c’mon it’s next level that is.
What does it mean to you to compete in such an historic venue?
Blackpool was very special and getting that exposure, it was an incredible place to do it, but the stakes have been raised with The Royal Albert Hall. I remember watching a Battle Royal there in the early nineties, I think I had I had it on VHS, and as I kid I thought it was unreal and now to know I’m going to compete there, it’s unreal. We’ve been lucky enough to already go down there and have a look around and all I can say is what a couple of nights it’s going to be. You won’t forget these shows in a hurry.
You mention those shows in the early 90s, how does it feel to follow in the footsteps of The British Bulldog and that golden era of WWE?
1992 was twenty-seven years ago and little baby Trent had no idea that this level would even be possible. It really shows if you chase the dream then somehow it can happen. I do have to pinch myself at times and Pete (Dunne) and Tyler (Bate) and I are more than ready to take on the aura of arena.
As part of the event you’ll be teaming with Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate to take on the Undisputed Era, what can we expect from this hotly anticipated match?
On a professional level you can’t help but admire all the guys and the talent they have, they are some of the best wrestlers that have come out of the business in the last ten years. You’ve got guys in there who have wrestled in the Tokyo Dome, guys who held multiple championships and competed with some of the best in the world. The roster that William Regal and Triple H have built is just something to behold and the matches we can put on are incredible. British Strong Style vs. The Undisputed Era at a sold out Royal Albert Hall? That’s crazy.
You’re obviously teaming with Pete Dunne, but how keen are you to get hold of his UK Championship?
We have a common goal in mind, all three of us and that’s never changed. As soon as we’re done with The Undisputed Era then my focus will all be about getting that UK Championship around my waist. I’m not the only one, Tyler will be feeling the same and Peter knows that we’re both coming for him and that gold.
We’ve also seen you compete in NXT quite regularly, do you have think about one day making it to the main roster in WWE?
Obviously that’s always in your mind, but it’s just making sure that with every opportunity you get given you’re ready and you grab the ball with both hands and run with. Opportunities may pop up when you least expect it, things like the UK Championship, Royal Albert Hall and getting to compete in NXT. You’ve just got to be ready to make the most of them.
It’s been such a monumental year for you and the UK scene. Can you pick a highlight?
There’s so many I could mention - the whole ride has been like a moment in itself. I never thought I’d wrestle at Axxess at WrestleMania or even in a WWE ring to be honest, and every single time there’s been mad crazy opportunities that have just popped up. Now to wrestle at Royal Albert Hall? That could be the biggest highlight of them all.
Finally, as a man who likes his facial hair, which WWE Superstars would benefit from a facial makeover and who should never entertain the notion?
I think John Cena’s clean-cut face might need a refresh so he might look good with a tash, but he’d need to get the style right. As for worst…I think Triple H when he had that handlebar type look. I mean that was rough wasn’t it?
