Incredible Royal Rumble saves you have to see – Kofi Kingston’s stunning escapes, and more

Kofi Kingston has produced insane spots to save himself in previous Royal Rumble matches.

He is the MVP of these renowned bouts, showcasing his style, charisma and incredible ingenuity.

The former WWE champion is a confirmed entrant in this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match and fans can expect more heroics.

Kingston’s incredible saves started in 2012 when it looked like he had been eliminated by The Miz only to stay in the match by performing a handstand.

In 2013, arguably his best save to date, occurred when he leaped on to Lord Tensai’s back outside of the ring and made it on to a commentary table.

It seemed impossible to make it back to the ring without both feet touching the ground, however, Kingston found a way.

He used commentator JBL’s chair to hop his way back to the ring and into the match – it was a superb spot.

By 2014, Kingston’s spots had become a tradition in Royal Rumble matches – and he did not fail to disappoint.

The 38-year-old had been knocked off the apron and caught by an already-eliminated Rusev outside the ring.

The Bulgarian Brute proceeded to place Kingston on top of the ring barricade and knee him in the ribs, before being pulled away by referees.

Kingston was still in the match and pulled off an audacious jump from the ring barricade and on to the ring apron. It was yet another reminder of his brilliant athleticism.

A simpler and funnier spot came in 2016 when he was saved by his New Day brother, Big E, by falling on to his shoulders after being tossed over the ropes by Kane.

He was paraded around the ring by Big E, with Xavier Woods by their side, before re-entering the ring.

John Morrison, who made his official return to WWE TV earlier this month, has also produced one of the best spots in Royal Rumble history.

The Guru of Greatness was knocked off the ring apron by William Regal, but managed to jump and then cling on to the barricade.

He heaved himself up, before balancing on the barricade and leaping on to the steel steps and into the match.

The Rock had performed a great save to win the Royal Rumble in 2000.

The Great One was being carried by The Big Show and looked as though he was about to be thrown out.

However, The Rock somehow managed to hurl Big Show over the ropes, while clinging on and earning a world title shot at WrestleMania.

Meanwhile for the women, there have only been two Royal Rumble matches, with two memorable spots so far.

In 2018, Naomi was tossed over by Nia Jax, but caught by a host of superstars on the outside and lifted on to the ring barricade. She walked on the barricade, before placing herself on a chair, using her hands to crawl on to the steel steps and into the ring.

The other spot came from NXT superstar Kacy Catanzaro last year.

From the barricade, she did a handstand, much like Kingston, and showed superb strength to pull herself up on to the ring post to stay in the match.

Fans will be hoping WWE superstars produce more gravity-defying spots at the Royal Rumble matches on Sunday.
