Fans call Roman Reigns/Jey Uso Clash of Champions main event ‘masterpiece’ and ‘best WWE TV in a decade’ as Reigns shines
A year ago, if you'd said about Jey Uso being the man to pull one of the best matches of Roman Reigns' career, not many people would have agreed.
Even though they are family and the story is there, Jey has been a tag team wrestler for the vast majority of his career and a great one at that. There are many other dream matches out there for Roman.
However, since Reigns' heel turn and his ascension to Tribal Chief, everything has changed.
SmackDown is on fire off the back of Reign's story and his feud with Jey Uso has taken centre stage. The character work has been on another level with these two and they rightly main evented Clash of Champions for the Universal title.
What unfolded was a straight beatdown from Reigns to Jey. The six-time tag team champion had his moments against his real-life cousin, but Reigns could pretty much take control whenever he wanted to.
When Jey did hit the splash from the top rope, Reigns got his shoulder up but delivered a low-blow at the same time.
Then the Big Dog - now Tribal Chief - really started the beat down. He repeatedly told Jey to acknowledge him as the tribal Chief and head of the family, but Jey refused.
Finally, as the beating was reaching uncomfortable levels, Jey's twin brother and Roman's cousin Jimmy Uso came down to the ring and threw the towel in.
As Reigns stood over Jey, Jimmy finally told Reigns what he wanted to hear - that he was the Tribal Chief.
The action was stellar, but the storytelling was another level and something seldom seen in WWE in this day and age.
Quite rightly, fans lauded the main event on Twitter and showered Reigns with the praise he so richly deserves.
Reigns has finally grown into the bonafide superstar WWE always wanted him to be and now they have a true money player on their hands.
