EXCLUSIVE: Cesaro thinks his first WrestleMania singles match being with Seth Rollins would be perfect, talks relationship with Vince McMahon

Cesaro signed with WWE in 2011 and was on the main roster by 2012.

Despite around a decade of tenure, the Swiss Cyborg has never had a singles match at WrestleMania. Considering his talent, that’s frankly a crime.

He’s had WrestleMania moments, sure. He won the first-ever Andre the Giant Battle Royal, he’s been in memorable tag team title matches, but he’s never had the spotlight solely on him.

This year, it looks like that’s about to change. Cesaro is on a collision course with Seth Rollins on SmackDown and it looks like that will see the pair square off at WrestleMania.

When talkSPORT had the chance to speak to Cesaro this week, we asked the 40 year old if it could get much better than having his first singles match at WrestleMania with Seth Rollins.

“I don’t think so, I don’t think so! The longest swing at WrestleMania, that sounds pretty good right,” Cesaro said clearly excited. “That’s definitely something that’s on the bucket list as they may say, but yeah, me and Seth Rollins? Oh yeah! Oh yeah, give me that!”

WrestleMania is naturally about being a massive show as much as it is about wrestling, but sinking his teeth into a match with Rollins where hopefully they’d have time has to be exciting for Cesaro?

“100 percent,” Cesaro started. “You know, it always comes down to that combination of wrestling and entertainment and between me and Seth Rollins, there is plenty to go around and we can do both.

“We can have an awesome spectacle and an awesome wrestling match and a fun story leading into it - that whole prospect to me is just so exciting.

“To have the build and the singles match… to have people excited for it, to have a good wrestling match and to have fun, it’s the whole package! It gets me excited just talking about it!”

Many fans have longed to see Cesaro in a prominent position in WWE and now it seems like it finally may happen.

Vince McMahon said back in 2014 that he felt that cesaro perhaps lacked the charisma to be a top guy when Stone Cold Steve Austin asserted he should be in the mix.

Since then, how has Cesaro’s relationship with the boss developed?

“You build equity. You have to show you’re reliable, you can handle whatever gets thrown at you and you slowly get more and more chances.

“Some people want that to happen quicker and I really appreciate that because that means you believe in me, so thank you for that [laughs] I’m working on it!

“And it’s the same thing with everything. You work on it and eventually, you get there. I believe that I’ll get there, I believe we will get there and it will be awesome when it happens.”
