We haven’t seen Brock Lesnar since WrestleMania 36, but that might be about to change.

A new report from has indicated that there is a belief inside WWE that the Beast Incarnate could return ‘imminently.

“WWE was said to have plans in order for Brock Lesnar, and hopes that he could return imminently if they have their way. As with anything, until it appears on screen, it’s hardly ever a sure thing.”

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast added that although Lesnar did let his contract lapse with WWE following his last match with Drew McIntyre,

“Brock was always set to return when things go back to ‘normal.’ Just a matter of when that’s the story.”

Come SummerSlam, Lesnar would have been absent for the best part of 16 months. That’s his longest stretch away from the company since returning in 2012.

The former UFC heavyweight champion has been staying at home in Canada and talkSPORT have always understood it would stay that way until the worst of the pandemic was over and WWE could have full crowds again.

Given that SummerSlam is a stadium show in Las Vegas, one has to think that’s about the right kind of time WWE would pay the big bucks for Brock once more.

After all, it would have made no sense for WWE to keep paying Brock the exorbitant amount of money it does during a time where they have no opportunities to use their biggest drawing superstar in box office and live attendances.

The other interesting factor in play is the fact that Lesnar has never faced Bobby Lashley, the current WWE champion.

It’s been a dream match that Lashley has long chased, but for whatever reason it has never come to pass.

Lashley told talkSPORT that if there was ever a chance to have that match, it’s SummerSlam.

“It could be, it could be,” Lashley replied when asked about Lesnar at SummerSlam. “You never know. Normally when he comes back it’s for a reason and it’s that big, shiny gold belt.

“Right now, I have it. If there is a chance, if there was a time he’d want to come back, it would be the perfect time. And I’m always ready. Is this the time though? We don’t know.”
