Two possible signs that AEW are preparing for CM Punk’s debut

The rumours of CM Punk joining AEW kicked into gear last week and they’re gaining momentum.
first broke the news of Punk’s talks with AEW and recent activity from the company could lend a great deal of credence to those already reliable reports.
According to , who broke the news that AEW and Daniel Bryan’s have been in talks, Khan and the executive vice presidents of AEW - The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes - recently visited The United Center in Chicago.
It’s believed Khan and the EVPs were at the United Center in order to film promos for a potential show, widely believed to be ahead of Thanksgiving.
In 2019 AEW ran the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in the Chicago suburb Hoffman Estates at the NOW Arena. The report suggests Khan is hoping to establish the show as an annual tradition for AEW.
The Chicago link to Punk is obvious. Would the former WWE star debut at All Out in Chicago on September 5? Or would he be better suited to a bigger arena like the United Center? If AEW want to pack out the latter, they may be thinking it’s better for Punk’s debut.
Furthermore, it was announced on last week’s AEW Dynamite that Khan would have a major announcement for a new show this Wednesday at AEW Fight for the Fallen.
That information combined with the fact AEW had filed to trademark ‘The First Dance’ is interesting. The idea is thought to be a play on The Last Dance documentary series that focused on the famous 1990s Chicago Bulls squads and their star player Michael Jordan.
Right on cue, Punk took to Instagram to post the song 'Sirius' by The Alan Parsons Project, the notable entrance song for the 90s Bulls teams, leading to speculation 'The First Dance' trademark related to him and could indeed be the show he debuts at.
While nothing is official yet, AEW are thought to either have agreements or are closing in on them for both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.
WWE’s answer to those mammoth deals is to bring back a mammoth of their own in Braun Strowman, according to Dave Meltzer.
