Manchester City 2024/25 EPL betting tips: What to expect from the betting markets?

Manchester City are seeking a fifth consecutive Premier League title. Will they be crowned champions again this season?

⚡My quick betting tip

⚽ Manchester City last season overview

Yet another record fell to Manchester City last season, as they became the first team in the history of the English top flight to win a fourth consecutive title. It was a fantastic achievement for City, who were nevertheless a touch disappointed to miss out on each of the Champions League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

In the Premier League, though, City reigned supreme once more. There were a few wobbles along the way and, at the midway point of their campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side found themselves in fourth place. But a strong second half of the season powered City up the standings and they ultimately finished a point clear of Arsenal at the summit.

Meanwhile, if you're looking to stay engaged with the Premier League and place bets, it's a great time to explore our recommended football betting sites.

⚽ Manchester City manager

Pep Guardiola is not only the best manager in world football; he is one of the greatest who has ever lived. Key to his brilliance is Guardiola’s constant search for ways to get better. The underlying principles are similar, but he has evolved considerably since he first entered the dugout at Barcelona in 2008.

Guardiola is a tactical genius. It might be said that there are two types of football managers: those who have been influenced by Guardiola and those who should have been. Do not underestimate his powers of motivation either. Guardiola has ensured City’s players retain their hunger throughout his tenure.

⚽ Manchester City transfers

It has been a rather low-key summer at the Etihad Stadium up to now, but at the time of writing there are still around three weeks of the window remaining. Savinho has arrived to add another dynamic option on the wing, but Julian Alvarez has been sold to Atletico Madrid after being frustrated with his role as a bit-part player at Manchester City.

Another midfielder to play alongside Rodri would not go amiss, with none of Mateo Kovacic, Kalvin Phillips or Matheus Nunes having made that position their own. James McAtee, who was out on loan last term, could have a role to play this time around, but rumoured target Rodrygo will not leave Real Madrid this summer.

⚽ Manchester City objective for the season

More of the same. Having become the first English team ever to win four titles on the bounce, Manchester City will now strive to become the first to lift the trophy in five consecutive years. Arsenal have pushed them hard in the last couple of years, but that has brought out the best in Guardiola’s team.

City will also be looking to go all the way in the Champions League. They were beaten on penalties by eventual winners Real Madrid last time out, denying Guardiola’s side a second European gong. Having dominated the Premier League in recent years, City may now prioritise continental competition.

⚽ Manchester City strengths

Where to start? Manchester City are strong right across the pitch. No one scored as many goals as them last term, with Erling Haaland claiming a second Golden Boot on the trot despite a dip in form at one point. There is an abundance of creativity and firepower offered by the likes of Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku. Further back, Rodri is the world’s best midfielder.

City are sturdy at the back too, with Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Josko Gvardiol all top-class defenders. And did we mention Guardiola? For as long as the Catalan is calling the shots at the Etihad Stadium, City will be the team to beat in this league.

⚽ Manchester City weaknesses

Manchester City have few obvious weaknesses, as you might expect from a team that has swept all before them in the Premier League for most of Guardiola’s tenure. The squad is perhaps not quite as deep as it could be in certain areas, but that will be solved by the promotion of young players like the aforementioned McAtee and Oscar Bobb, who showed signs of real promise last term.

If you wanted to nitpick, you could point to City’s slow starts in 2022/23 and 2023/24. On both occasions, they managed to reel in Arsenal in the run-in, but Guardiola will want his team to set the pace this time around.

💰 What do I bet on?

Manchester City to be the top northwest club at 7/20 with bet365. Arsenal could pip them to the Premier League title, but City will almost certainly finish in the top two.
