The tournament got underway on Saturday afternoon with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders being defeated by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opening fixture of the tournament.
A mega auction took place in November with mass changes to squads taking place due to restricted player retentions, including the defending champions opting not to retain their title winning captain, Shreyas Iyer, who was picked up by Punjab Kings.
