‘He just edged a split-decision over Kubrat Pulev, no way’ – Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel rules out fight with Derek Chisora after Brit’s call-out
Deontay Wilder’s long-time manager Shelly Finkel has categorically ruled out Derek Chisora as a potential comeback opponent for his client.
‘Del Boy’ snapped his three-fight losing streak this past weekend when he battled his way to a split decision win over Kubrat Pulev at the O2 Arena in London.
Chisora joins an elite list of fighters to beat the Bulgarian who had only ever been toppled by Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko previously.
Post-fight, the 38-year-old called for the toughest fight possible which he believes to be against the former WBC heavyweight champion and prolific knockout artist, Deontay Wilder.
“I'm on my way out. I don't want no easy fights, I want the hard fights,” Chisora said after picking up his first win in three years.
“I told Eddie Hearn the other day, if he can get me the Bronze Bomber I'll be happy. I want to fight everybody in my era. Win or lose, I just want to fight.”
The potential fight has divided fans as some think Chisora would be outmatched against ‘The Bronze Bomber’.
Even his good friend Tony Bellew has advised ‘War’ to steer clear of a fight with the American.
Anyone worried about Chisora taking a fight with Wilder can now rest easy after his manager scoffed at the idea of the match-up.
"Derek Chisora? He just edged a split-decision over Kubrat Pulev, no way," Finkel told .
Hall of Fame Boxing promoter Frank Warren recently told that Wilder is set to face Robert Helenius when he returns to the ring later this year.
