‘I can’t see’ – Gervonta Davis hit Hector Luis Garcia so hard he lost his vision, said ‘I didn’t know where I was,’ and had to quit on his stool

Gervonta Davis picked up another impressive victory as he dismantled Hector Luis Garcia in a stoppage win on Saturday night.

The 28-year-old American boxing star moved to 28-0 (26 KOs) by finishing his respectable Dominican opponent at the start of round nine.

Garcia put up a decent challenge for Gervonta and proved himself a good opponent to produce back-and-forth action at the top level.

In the end though, a big overhand left in round eight stopped him in his tracks.

As soon as the punch landed, Garcia's legs dipped and it seemed as though he would be knocked down.

Remarkably though, he stayed on his feet and then survived a few seconds to the bell.

It was in the corner that the true effects of the blow became telling.

Garcia was heard telling his corner, 'I can't see,' as a result of the punch.

He then refused to come out for round nine and quit on his stool.

In his post-fight interview five minutes later, Garcia added: "I didn't know where I was when he hit me with that shot.

When the interview was reposted on Twitter on Sunday, Gervonta reacted by quote-tweeting it and adding the caption: "Damn, I hit that hard?"

He later added: “A little surprised, but when I caught him, I knew he was hurt he was hurt bad.

“He’s a fighter, so he didn’t want to show it. I knew he was hurt, though.”

He will now move forwards into a showdown with Ryan Garcia which is targeted for April 15.

This fight is already a done deal with contracts now needing to be finalised and signed.

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn has stirred some controversy with his latest comments on Davis in which he suggested the American wasn't the smartest around.

"The dangerous thing about Gervonta Davis is he’s not a deep thinker, not articulate.
