Billy Joe Saunders teases boxing return on undercard of bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr’s fight vs Conor Benn
Billy Joe Saunders has told talkSPORT that he is likely to finally make his boxing return on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn in January.
The 34-year-old former middleweight and super-middleweight world champion has not fought for two-and-a-half years, since suffering the first defeat of his career to Canelo Alvarez in May 2021.
Despite teasing a possible return on several occasions since, Saunders has been out of the ring for a significant period.
He is now back in the gym though and working his way back to fighting shape.
Saunders told on Tuesday: "We're just waiting on Eddie with a date.
"Obviously I think he's trying to make the Eubank Jr vs Benn fight and I think my date is gonna be on that card.

"What I'm hearing is that Eddie at the moment is just trying to get over a few hurdles to see if he can make it happen this week.
"So I think this week will be the dying death of what date it is and what date it isn't.
"I'm on the gym twice a day, I'm training, and I'm just getting ready."
It's already known that Eubank Jr vs Benn is being targeted for January.
Saunders has a bitter rivalry with Eubank Jr, having beaten him in 2014 and exchanged insults with him ever since, though no rematch has ever come to fruition.
Asked for his feelings about being on his enemy's undercard, Saunders jokingly replied: "Do you know what? I'm really on the undercard of Benn.
"But I'll be honest with you, I don't really care where I go.
"I'm not one of these, 'Oh, I'm not being on the undercard here,' as long as I get looked after fairly.
"What a show to be on, to be fair. There will be millions of people watching it, there will be thousands of people there, and it will be nice way to introduce myself back in."
