And it appears he has left no stone unturned in his preparations for the fight.

Posting to his Instagram story on Tuesday morning, Canelo flaunted his ripped physique as he danced to some Mexican music in the gym.

The former pound-for-pound king has been training in Lake Tahoe, California, at an altitude of around 6,000 feet for his next fight.

Canelo has often worked out in Mexico and San Diego, but switched things up for this camp.

Speaking about the decision on the podcast, Canelo said: "I feel great when I train in the altitude.

"When we were thinking about going to the altitude we were thinking about Lake Tahoe.

"So we found this gym and we feel great because it's a very relaxed place, we have everything we need and my training camp is going really well. I feel my best right now."

Canelo has been sparring several top contenders in the lead-up to fight night including former middleweight world title challenger Maciej Sulecki and Ghanaian super-middleweight Sena Agbeko.

Both boxers have almost identical dimensions to the long and rangy Munguia so Canelo will be well-prepared for the all-Mexican showdown.

Munguia is one of the most promising up-and-comers in the super-middleweight division.

Fans had hoped to see the David Benavidez fight next but Canelo has shown little interest in getting that bout over the line.

In a now-deleted tweet, Benavidez's manager, Sampson Lewkowicz, insisted a $55million (£43million) offer had been tabled by PBC for a fight between the pair on May 4.

But Canelo's trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso adamantly denies these claims.
