I’m an electrician who won unlikely fight on Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois card – but I’m back to work next week

Josh Padley scored a stunning upset over Mark Chamberlain on Saturday night - but next week he's back on the tools.

The 28-year-old overcame odds of 9/1 to defeat Chamberlain on the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois undercard at Wembley Stadium in front of a British record crowd of 98,128.

Padley entered the bout as an unknown quantity given that he had mostly competed on small hall bills and only boxes part-time due to his day job as an electrician.

However, he was able to drop full-time fighter Chamberlain in round eight en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Chamberlain is said to be HE Turki Alalshikh's favourite fighter and is used to fighting on huge cards.

There were talks of him landing a WBO lightweight title shot against Denys Berinchyk on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury undercard on December 21 if he won.

But now, Padley is the one fielding big offers.

"My team said that some stuff has come across, but I'm away on holiday this week so they've said 'Go and enjoy your holiday, things are about to get crazy for you'," Padley told talkSPORT's Hawksbee and Jacob's show on Tuesday afternoon.

"And they've left me dangling the carrot a little bit. I'm really excited about what is in store.

"I don't really know what it is yet but I'm absolutely buzzing for it."

Padley was allowed eight weeks off work to prepare for his fight with Chamberlain and is hoping he do the same again for his next one.

"It all depends on what sort of fights come through as these offers," he added.

"Obviously, if they're the bigger fights, then I might be able to take the camp off again, with the help of my sponsors that helped me out with this camp so I can be full-time again for the next camp.

"But I will go back into work, and pick my tools back up for Monday after my holiday, because like I say, I don't know what the offers are just yet, so I've gotta put things in place, just in case it isn't right."

Chamberlain used to work as a plasterer before he was given the opportunity to go full-time by HE Alalshikh.

The Portsmouth puncher was making his third appearance on a Riyadh Season card after recording a win over Gavin Gwynne on the Joshua vs Francis Ngannou bill and then beating Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab on the undercard of Usyk and Fury's inaugural encounter.

It is unclear where he goes from here but at 25 years old there is still plenty of time for Chamberlain to rebuild after tasting defeat for the first time in his professional career.
