‘It may not’ – Frank Warren gives update on Daniel Dubois vs Anthony Joshua rematch insisting it isn’t certain to happen next

Frank Warren insists other options are being considered for Daniel Dubois in case a rematch with Anthony Joshua doesn't happen.

Dubois beat Joshua in a sensational display at Wembley Stadium last month to retain his IBF heavyweight title at the first time of asking.

Both teams have confirmed that an immediate sequel is being plotted to take place in Saudi Arabia in February, with Joshua keen on redemption.

The champion has insisted he is open to the immediate rematch but will be open to all options that present themselves early in 2025.

And during an appearance on talkSPORT's White and Jordan, his promoter Frank Warren insisted it is not yet guaranteed that a rematch with AJ is next.

He said: "He'll fight next year, early next year. And we are just looking at a few matches

"I hope we get it done by next week, who he'll be facing. But he's going to defend his title and we'll see who it's going to be.

"It may be AJ, it may not. It depends. But whatever happens, he'll be out.

"He'll be facing someone, that's for sure, and capitalising on what he did in that fight.

"I mean, he really, really announced himself on the world stage in a big way, didn't he?"

Warren was then asked more specifically about the rumoured February card in Riyadh could host the rematch.

He responded: "That's what I would like to see.

"That's where I'd like to see him fighting. Well, we'll see what happens.

"I mean, I have no problem with that fight [Joshua rematch]. I'd have that fight all day long for him."

A huge card is being plotted for early next year with both Joshua and Dubois expected to be involved.

Daniel Dubois should only be fighting one man next - and it's not Anthony Joshua

But the pair could be waiting for the outcome of Oleksandr Usyk's rematch with Tyson Fury, where Dubois could look to land a shot for undisputed glory.

Joshua faced some calls to retire in the aftermath of the upset, which leaves him needing a rebuild to return to the world title mix.

He has already been involved in two revenge bids against Andy Ruiz Jr and Usyk, only avenging his defeat to the former.

But he insists he has more to give, and the Briton is still a commercial superstar with interest in fights still at a premium.

A fight with Fury also looks to still also be on the cards, with the 'Gypsy King' refusing to put it to bed.

It promises to be an exciting 2025 for Dubois who is now at the front and centre of the heavyweight spotlight.
