‘I’d break my back’ – Jake Paul teases ambitious career change as he gives update on MMA debut

Jake Paul still wants to fight in MMA but is eyeing an appearance as his brother Logan's manager in WWE.

Rising combat sports star Paul has become a boxer and wants to become world champion, most recently beating Mike Tyson in a huge event last November.

The 'Problem Child' previously signed a deal with MMA promotion PFL and is expected to also try and make his debut in the cage alongside his squared circle exploits.

His brother Logan Paul is also looking to be a jack of all trades, having fought Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring, as well as competing in the WWE after signing an official contract.

And the younger Paul sibling, Jake, believes he could land a role in the WWE himself, but isn't sure his body would be cut out to compete.

: "I would be down to be Logan's manager.

"Paul Heyman-style in WWE, but I don't think my body is cut out for the athleticism and the madness that the WWE takes.

"I feel like I would break my back."

Paul previously appeared in WWE alongside his brother Logan, helping him at WWE Crown Jewel in 2022.

Despite considering a future career in WWE, focus will too be on his own fighting exploits.

Paul has shown a real focus in boxing, which has lead to doubts over his potential participation in MMA.

But 'El Gallo insists he still wants to take the opportunity with both hands, and reiterated his call-out to Nate Diaz.

He added: "I definitely want to do MMA.

"Nate Diaz, still to this day, has not accepted the $15million [£11.5m] deal that we have for him.

"For me in MMA, it's just about finding the right opponent."

Paul has a background in wrestling, and has previously been spotted training kicks in preparation to step in the cage.

But his recent call-outs have all come in the world of boxing, as he looks to continue to land the biggest commercial events available.

He previously came close to landing a showdown with Canelo Alvarez last month, but the Mexican made a U-turn and signed to face William Scull and Terence Crawford.

The 28-year-old then called out British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, but the pair instead agreed to meet in 2026.

In his most recent spat, Paul offered Tommy Fury $4 million for a rematch but it was rejected.

Given his focus on a number of names in boxing, PFL's Dan Hardy believes for now an MMA debut does seem unlikely despite his persistance.

"Do we ever see him in MMA? I don't think so," Hardy said.

"He's pretty focused on boxing.

"It's a lot of work for him to cross over to mixed martial arts and he's not going to fight anybody that you've never heard of before.
