Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron contract chaos continues with resolution still not reached days before fight

Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron are reportedly yet to reach a resolution over their contract dispute, six days out from fight night.

Cameron informed talkSPORT two weeks ago that Whittaker's promotional outfit, BOXXER, was trying to reduce the number of rounds for their Easter Sunday rematch to 10 despite him already signing to compete in 12.

It was later disclosed that an 'administrative error' had led to both men receiving different contracts: Whittaker for a 10-round fight and Cameron for a 12-rounder.

According to Ring Magazine, the issue is still ongoing as of Monday.

A source involved in the deal told the Bible of Boxing: “Roundgate is still in full swing. We need a resolution soon.”

When Ben Shalom joined talkSPORT last week, he revealed that Cameron's team were still haggling for a better deal despite BOXXER agreeing to fork out a considerable compensation fee to change his agreement to 10 rounds.

"It's a 10-round fight," said Shalom. "In the first instance, there was an admin error in the office with the paperwork.

"I think it was a couple of days when it was noticed, and to be honest, as sensible partners, I thought it'd be all worked out quickly, and it seemed like it was getting worked out.

"They wanted extra money and compensation, and we agreed to that, and we felt like we moved on from that.

"Since Liam's interview [with talkSPORT], I've spoken to George Warren, and George had agreed on the terms to get it done.

"They're agreeing on something, and then looking to draw it out as long as possible.

"And that's what's happened now a couple of times. They want to play games. They want to mess around.

"I think Liam is being told ultimately what to say. But it is a 10-round fight, and I agreed that in writing last week.

"We actually were demanded to make a ridiculous request, to make a payment into the Board and lodge the payment.

"We had a deadline of last week, we did that. And so at the end of the day, it's a 10-round fight...

"Ultimately, our mistake is an expensive mistake that has cost me money.

"I'm holding my hands up to that, it's nothing to do with Ben Whittaker. But it has been dealt with."
