When top heavyweights spar together… Dillian Whyte with the Klitschko brothers, Deontay Wilder with David Haye and Anthony Joshua with Tyson Fury

In the heavyweight division, it often proves difficult to make the fights that boxing fans really want to see.

Plenty of tantalising match-ups between the sport’s best often fall by the wayside, as we've recently seen with the collapse of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury.

However, many of these potential bouts have already happened in the gym, several years prior.

All of the world’s best heavyweights were at some point developing youngsters learning their trade, often sent out to spar with the division’s top dogs.

This produces many sessions that, in hindsight, we’d definitely pay to see.

Fury was a contender when he sparred an amateur AJ. Fury said back in 2010: “He’s very good. He’s rushed out at me, he threw a one-two and a left hook and then bash, he hit me with a big uppercut right on the point of the chin. He came out at me for three rounds, and he gave me a beating. Watch out for that name, Anthony Joshua, he is one prospect for the future.”
