Exclusive – Fury HAS NOT retired and is ‘ready for anyone’, insists Hennessy

Tyson Fury has not retired from boxing and is desperate for a “massive fight”, his promoter Mick Hennessy has told talkSPORT.

The heavyweight recently announced his retirement on Twitter following the cancellation of his highly-anticipated all-British blockbuster against David Haye.

But the undefeated fighter’s representative has insisted this is not the case, explaining the 25-year-old is just upset after losing out on the opportunity to fight the Hayemaker.

“Tyson is frustrated, he’s been to hell and back with this, it’s been ridiculous for him,” Hennessy told Drivetime.

“He’s wanted David Haye since he turned pro, it was personal to him, he always felt like he could do a job on him.

“He moved mountains to make that fight and he even gave up a final eliminator for the right to fight Klitschko.

“But he’s sting young - he’s only 25 - and right now I need to find the right motivation for him because he wants to be in a massive fight.

“He wants to fight the best and I’m trying hard in the background to do that.”

So it seems Fury will enter the ring again, with a bout against US giant Deontay Wilder in the pipeline.

Also undefeated, 6ft 7in Wilder has 30 knock-out wins in 30 fights and Hennessy believes facing the American will provide a greater test than the grudge match against Haye.

“He wants this fight against Wilder,” he added.

“There were a lot of rumours going around that Wilder had knocked Haye out in the gym. He’s a serious contender and it’s a much bigger fight, for me, than the David Haye fight.

“This is a recipe for a superfight, so bring on Deontay Wilder, bring on the Klitschko’s - Tyson will beat any of them, his time will come.

“Tyson Fury is a fighting man, he was given that name, this is his destiny, we just need to put the right fight in front of him that motivates him.”
