Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray admits he wouldn't begrudge the red-hot Ben Brereton Diaz of a Premier League move amid speculation surrounding the forward's future.

Brereton Diaz has made an electric start to the season, scoring 19 goals and providing one assist in 23 Championship appearances.

His latest flurry of goals came on Saturday as the in-form forward scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Birmingham City.

In fact, his tally so far is as good as he managed in his previous four seasons as a professional in the Championship.

It's been a whirlwind year for Brereton Diaz, who received his first call-up to the Chile national team in April before going on to represent them in the Copa America, scoring in their win over Bolivia.

He's made nine appearances for Chile in all, scoring three goals and providing an assist as he looks to help them qualify for the World Cup in Qatar next year.

Representing Chile been cited as one of the main reasons behind his brilliant start to the campaign and his efforts haven't gone unnoticed with Leeds and Brighton as well as Spanish outfit Sevilla keeping tabs on him, reports.

It's understood Blackburn value Brereton Diaz at around £25million and after their 2-0 win at Championship high-flyers Bournemouth, Mowbray refused to rule out his prized asset leaving in January.

On whether Brereton Diaz will stay or leave, Mowbray told talkSPORT after last weekend's victory over Bournemouth: "The club will decide.

"The owners will decide what they want to do, their business in India has suffered a little bit.

"Ben Brereton Diaz is doing amazingly well. I was a footballer for 20 years and when you're doing well sometimes you have to strike.

"If he can get a top, top move, earn the money and be a Premier League striker I'd never stop him doing that but I would hope he stays with us and sees the season out at the very least and keep the goals coming of course.

"I'm delighted for Ben. We signed him at 18 years old and it's been a tough journey for him. He's 22 now but he's taking a bit of flak for what we spent on him.

"Now he's a man and it's come to fruition. He's grown up, can use his body and knows he can score goals. I'm just delighted for him.

"Let's see what January brings. He's not intimating that he's in a rush to leave the football club."
