Tottenham closed the gap on Arsenal and the top four to just a point as they emphatically beat their north London rivals 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Gunners played an hour of the game with ten men, after Rob Holding was sent off having received two yellow cards inside the first 33 minutes of the clash.

Harry Kane once again enjoyed a clash against the Gunners scoring twice - taking his all-time goal tally against them to 13 - and assisting the other for Antonio Conte's side.

Kane's first came from the spot, after Cedric Soares shoved Heung-min Son inside the box, and the England captain made no mistake, slotting past Aaron Ramsdale.

Both of Holding's yellow cards came for fouls on Son - the first a late foul in the middle of the pitch, the second a dangerous elbow as the forward ran in on goal.

And Kane's second goal came just after the sending off, the England captain heading in at the back post after evading the attention of Eddie Nketiah.

His Spurs sidekick Son netted the other early in the second half after Kane poked the ball to him inside the box, before the South Korean cleverly found the back of the net.

Spurs saw out the game professionally after Son's strike, Ramsdale remaining the busier of the two goalkeepers as Arsenal toiled in an attempt to gain any sort of consolation.

Instead, they were hit by more bad news as Gabriel limped off injured, throwing into doubt his availability for the game at Newcastle, with Holding already banned.

The win sees Tottenham move just a point behind Arsenal in fourth, with Conte's men in action on Sunday when relegation-threatened Burnley visit north London - a game you'd expect them to win.

It means Mikel Arteta's side will see their trip to St James' Park on Monday as a must-win.
