Tottenham ‘more organised’ and have ‘edge’ back under Antonio Conte but too premature to say they have ‘arrived’ after Liverpool thriller, says Danny Murphy

Tottenham Hotspur may finally be back to their old selves thanks to Antonio Conte who has helped the team rediscover their 'edge'.
That's according to former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara who was full of praise for their performance against Liverpool, but fellow talkSPORT pundit and ex-Liverpool star Danny Murphy says the club's fans shouldn't get too ahead of themselves.
The Italian coach is yet to taste defeat in the five games he has overseen in the Premier League since joining the north London club as their new manager.
In what was arguably the game of the season, Spurs and Liverpool went toe-to-toe for 90 minutes and both could have won and lost the game but ended up cancelling each other out in an eventful 2-2 draw.
While Conte would have liked to continue his winning run at home, he would have been thrilled with a point against the Reds and former Spurs midfielder O'Hara was keen to praise the Italian for his team's performance.
"You see that tactically how we're set up was so much more organised," he told the talkSPORT Breakfast.
"The way we squeezed the pitch one side, we were trying to stop Liverpool switching the play, players all in their right positions.
"Off the ball, when we're pressing, they're all pressing together, it's a sprint instead of that laboured half-sprint where you want to try and go win it but you're not really really trying.
"Spurs, when they tried to win the ball there's an edge to them, there's a bite, there's that sort of grit and determination to win it back and then can we play forward quickly?
"Every time they won it, can we get [Heung-Min] Son in? Can we get [Harry] Kane in?
"I mean, they gave Liverpool a run around in terms of chances created."
Tottenham may have won the game with the chances they created, but none may have occurred had Liverpool been able to field Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk in the heart of their team - with all key players ruled out with COVID or illness.
That's according to Murphy, who suggested the Reds' weakened team gave Spurs a huge advantage, and they still only managed to claim a point.
"I would say that’s a little premature, because of the team Liverpool put out," he told White and Jordan when asked if Spurs had 'arrived' in the match.
"No [Virgil] van Dijk, the whole midfield trio which has been brilliant recently, Fabinho, Thiago and [Jordan] Henderson, were not there - it was a perfect storm for Tottenham in many ways.
"Don’t get me wrong, I thought they played well, they set up technically quite cleverly, they isolated Liverpool’s centre-halves and had some good chances.
"Based on chances they could have won it, but there were some ridiculous decisions in the game that went their way.
"So yes, it was positive, I just think you’ve got to be careful not to get carried away."
