Moyes distances Man United from Coentrao move

David Moyes has denied claims Manchester United are on the brink of signing Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao.

The Red Devils had been linked with a swoop for the Portugal star last summer and reports from the continent suggest the Premier League champions have launched another bid this January.

Various newspapers claimed terms had been agreed with the La Liga side to transfer the 25-year-old international to Old Trafford.

But, speaking after Tuesday night's 2-1 Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg defeat at Sunderland, Moyes said: "No, that's not true."
