West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen ‘ticks all the boxes’ as a Liverpool forward and should be signed as a future replacement for Mohamed Salah, talkSPORT has been told.

Bowen, 25, has seen his reputation continually boosted throughout the course of the season with some fine displays at the London Stadium.

The tricky forward leads the Hammers with nine goals and eight assists in all competitions, and has been strongly linked with a call up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Signed from Hull for £18million in 2020, Bowen has hit new heights this season, and a move to one of the league’s top teams has been mooted.

talkSPORT host Tony Cascarino is another pundit to suggest a deal for Bowen could be in the offing, with Liverpool a potential destination.

Jurgen Klopp may be in the market for a new forward as Salah’s contract talks drag on, and Cascarino thinks Bowen fits the criteria.

“I actually thought, if we lost Mo Salah, who could we logically go after?” the former Ireland striker and boyhood Reds fan pondered.

“Well, the lad Bowen at West Ham ticks all those boxes because he’s tenacious, he chases everything and is decent technically, but not extraordinary.

“I keep thinking who would fit into that Liverpool frontline because Klopp loves those kinds of players in wide areas, who will chase and hassle players and will do the ugly things for their team, and will always get chances.”

Salah is closing in on the final year of his contract at Anfield, and an extension has yet to be agreed despite the Egyptian publicly stating he would be happy to stay and wants to get a deal done.

The 29-year-old is in the same age bracket as fellow forwards Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, and Klopp may soon be eyeing new blood.

Cascarino outlined exactly what the German looks for as proof as to why Bowen fits the bill.

“Klopp seems to love players that are really tenacious who will never give up and will chase,” he explained.

“They don't have to be technically absolutely brilliant, because Mane’s not, they’re good, but they're not technical geniuses like when you look at Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

"They’re not like that, but they’re all tenacious, he really loves that.”
