‘He needs to buy SOMEONE!’ – Arsenal legend David Seaman on Arsene Wenger’s transfer business

Arsene Wenger needs to bring new players to Arsenal soon to give the club a lift, Gunners legend David Seaman told talkSPORT.
Granit Xhaka was a much lauded signing prior to the start of Euro 2016, and Japanese striker Takuma Asano has been brought in as a player for the future, but other business has so far failed.
Jamie Vardy turned down the Gunners to remain at Leicester, and the hunt for a new striker has seen the North London outfit fail to bring in targets Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata and Mauro Icardi.
This needs to change soon in the opinion of ex-goalkeeper Seaman, who told the Weekend Sports Breakfast that players need to start arriving at the Emirates to give the club and fans a lift ahead of the new season.
The legendary glovesman said: “We still need a dominant centre-half. We’ll see what Granit [Xhaka]’s like in midfield, but ideally we need someone like Patrick Vieira. And a striker as well.
“He needs to buy someone to give the club a lift and give the fans a lift.
“Ideally a striker would be great, but either a centre-half or midfielder would do for me.”
The worry for Seaman is that Arsenal’s squad will be weaker than their rivals at the start of the campaign, if no one is signed before their opening Premier League game against Liverpool.
Head coach Wenger has rewarded certain players with extended holiday due to their performances at Euro 2016, meaning they will not be fit at the start of the season, and Seaman is worried that this, combined with a lack of signings, is not a good way to start competitive fixtures.
He added: “The thing is that a lot of the players who played in the Euros are not going to be ready for the start of the season, and that’s going to mean we are going to have a weakened team.”
