Exclusive – Moore hopes Pepe Mel is not West Brom’s ‘quick fix’ answer

Former West Brom captain Darren Moore has told talkSPORT he hopes Pepe Mel's appointment as boss will be the beginning of a long reign and is not just a 'quick fix' for the club.
The Spaniard has joined the Baggies on an 18-month contract as the successor to Steve Clarke, who was sacked after four straight defeats last month.
And Moore says he hopes the former Real Betis coach will stay for longer than that deal.
"Mr [Jeremy] Peace (West Brom chairman) has certainly got managerial appointments correct over the last how many years. Certainly in [appointing] Roberto di Matteo and Roy Hodgson," he told Kick Off.
"He has got it right, so now what we have to do is sit back and have a look at what Pepe Mel’s going to bring to West Brom. Certainly from the West Bromwich Albion fans perspective they’ll want the club to move onto that next level.
"Based on the appointment you hope that it’s not an 18-month [deal], that it’s going to be a longer contract and bring longevity into the football club because as we know, and it’s proven, that quick fix formula is certainly not the answer."
